Bringing Trauma Informed Yoga into Clinical Mental Health Practice

Debra Premashakti Alvis, Ph.D., RYT, led an in-depth training on the principles and practices of trauma-informed yoga, with a special focus on chair yoga postures, yogic breathing exercises, and yoga nidra, the yogic sleep. She is one of the first practitioners to combine yoga with the wisdom of neuroscience and techniques from somatic psychology into a personalized approach for bringing yoga into the session, groups, and yoga classes.

Trauma Informed Yoga Training

3-day training with Kodawari Studios reviewing trauma, how it lives in their body, and how yoga can be used as a therapeutic tool in the recovery and healing process.

Adaptive Yoga Training

Matthew Sanford teaches from a lens that requires the practitioner to examine their own practice and motivations for sharing yoga with people who have experienced trauma, loss, and disability. This workshop facilitated discovering the universal sensations of yoga and how this allows you to teach people of every ability.

500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (in progress)

RYT500 is a 300 hour additional Yoga Teacher Training registered with the Yoga Alliance.

200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher

Breath Technique Training

Breath Technique Training is a 30-hour training with Breath Guidance that teaches over 44 foundational breathing techniques that can be used to harness control over one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
